Over the past 25 years, Jim and his agents brokered more than 1,200 apartment communities in Metro Phoenix with more than $1Billion in value. He recently joined Coldwell Banker Commercial to re-start his multifamily brokerage, have national exposure for his clients and continue to provide the best service possible.

Jim received a Master’s Degree in geology in 1975 from the Univ. of New Mexico and conducted worldwide mineral exploration for major mining companies. In 1998, he started a new career and joined RE/MAX Commercial Investment in Scottsdale, AZ and formed the Kasten Long Apartment Team. This team achieved national and international awards from RE/MAX Commercial. In 2008, Jim formed his own company (Kasten Long Commercial Group) – still with a focus on apartments / investments. Over the 25-year period, Jim has partnered with clients with ownership on many apartment communities.

In addition to brokerage, Jim also provides apartment market research including the Metro Phoenix Apartment Owner’s Newsletter – quarterly since 1998. He has also served as an expert witness representing apartment owners and has been appointed by the Maricopa Family Court.
